Summary: | In the case of fashion product, the consumer's image is very important as the decisive factor in the development of product design. Kansei engineering, as a kind of human ergonomic technology provides an effective approach to address image issues.
The object in this research is natural fashion bag and the examinees of kansei evaluation are females as the main target of the product. The goal of this research is to construct kansei database by determining the categories value to assist product development of fashion bag design. Conjoint analysis is the tool used to find the relationship value between element design and kansei words.
The result of this research is kansei database in regression equation form constructed by evaluation value of consumer's image and element design. From 50 examinees the researcher obtains 16 kansei paired-words which represent the appropriate words regarding the products shown. The bag consist of 5 element and 24 categories. The value of each category was obtained from conjoint analysis process reflected the correlation of each category to the kansei word. This database can be used to develop a decision support system to product designers as an important reference for their design. It can help the designers to decide a new product's form with the image they want to build.
