Summary:This research aimed at investigating teachers’ perceptions and practices with regard to their roles in learner-centered speaking classes, as well as the difficulties they encountered in implementing their roles in learner-centered EFL speaking classrooms. In order to achieve the established targets, both quantitative and qualitative methods were adopted for data collection and analysis. The data was collected from six teachers and 221 students by means of three main research instruments namely questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and classroom observations.
