The effect of cold temperature on the total protein level of the muscle and liver of juvenile Oreochromis niloticus

Juvenile Oreochromis niloticus, with the size ranging from 2-3 inches, were exposed to cold water temperature range of 16 to 18 centigrade for 96 hours. The changes in the total protein levels of muscle and liver were determined quantitatively every 24th hour during the 96-hour period. The muscle to...

Acosta, Patrick D. The muscle total protein level of the cold temperature-exposed fish range from 2.92 to 5.27 pg/mg wet weight tissue. As compared with the control, the general pattern is towards increase. The most noticeable increase of 7.31% was incurred on the second day which was followed by less remarkable increase of 6.67% and 4.11% on the third and fourth day, respectively. The observed increase in muscle protein level range from 0.35 to 0.64 ug/mg wet weight tissue. Percent deviation from the control ranges from -26.56% to -242.09%. The significant decline was exhibited on the first day only followed by insignificant decline of -36.67%, -29.69%, and -26.56% on the second up to the fourth day, respectively. 1998-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/11092 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Freshwater ecology Aquaculture--Research Nile tilapia Biology
