The main thrust of the group is to acquire sufficient know how on the field of robotics. With this on mind, the proponents would further augment their knowledge acquired through the entire duration of the course and apply these theories, concepts and methodologies in building a robotic workcell that simulate small scale materials handling in a manner that it demonstrates the concept of CIM. The main focus of this project, however, is not in the concept of CIM but rather to gain knowledge on the field of robotics which will surely be one of the future trends in the industrial society. Since the group has limited understanding on the field of robotics, much time and effort was exhausted in looking for resource materials about the topic and understanding all the concepts that are needed of the system before the group went to the analysis of the system. Furthermore, resource persons were also asked to support and solve the problems that were encountered. Fortunately, the group was able to utilize an existing robot arm and conveyor belt in order to accomplish the group's main objectives. The design of the robot arm was altered after an exhaustive analysis was done in a way that it meets the requirements of the whole system. Moreover, an interface between the manipulator and the computer was done with a view of the requirements of the whole system. The robotic workcell is capable of simulating small scale materials handling through the use of a robot arm and conveyor belt in a manner that it demonstrates the concept of CIM. Moreover, the robot arm is capable of being taught manually through the use of the keyboard. 1991-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/16392 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Robotics Robots, Industrial Programming (Electronic computers) Programmable controllers
