Description
Summary:The current study investigated the relationship among the variables: social goals, motivation and academic performance. A total of 127 students (male=51, female=76) from six different colleges of DLSU-Manila participated in the research. Each answered a scale on motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic) developed by Harter (1981) and a scale on social goals (McCollum). The scores on the two scales were correlated to the academic performance of the participants (GPA). Social Responsibility, Belongingness and Intrinsic Motivation were positively correlated with academic performance. Results showed that Extrinsic Motivation is negatively correlated with academic performance.
