Description
Summary:The main objective of this study is to investigate the levels of comprehension of four- to five-year-old children through storytelling, with the children's sex, income group and maternal influence as variables. The study sought to answer the following questions: 1) Is there a statistically significant difference between the level of comprehension of male and female four-to five-year-old children? 2) Is there a statistically significant difference between the level of comperehension of children in the upper-income group and those belonging to the lower-income group? 3) Is there a statistically significant difference between the level of comprehension of children with sufficient maternal influence and those with insufficient maternal influence? and 4) Is there a difference between the level of comprehension of children with sufficient maternal influence and those with insufficient maternal influence in relation to age, educational attainment and occupational status of the mother? The descriptive-comparative research design was used to analyze the data which have been obtained through guide questions, survey questionnaires and scales. Frequencies and percentages served as basis for interpretations. The Fisher Exact Probability Test was employed in determining whether significant differences exist. The thirty-two (32) equally distributed male and female subjects were from Children's Talent Education Center and Alay Kapwa Paaralang Munti Day Care Center whose ages range from four to five years.
