الملخص: | The aim of this study was to determine if peer support acts as a moderator between the relationship of self-performance appraisal and work performance. A quantitative research method was used for this study, and correlational analysis was used to determine the relationship between self-performance appraisal and work performance. A simple linear regression analysis was used to determine if a predictive relationship exists between self-performance appraisal and work performance, and a moderation analysis by means of PROCESS was used to determine if peer support, measured by the Berlin Social Support Scale has a moderating effect on the relationship of self-performance appraisal and work performance measured by a behaviorally anchored rating scale (BARS). Employees coming from the customer service department of business process outsourcing companies that have 2 years of work experience or less prior to being in their current company, and 2 years of work experience or less in their current company were used in the study. Results of the study indicated that a significant positive relationship exists between self-performance appraisal and work performance, as well as a predictive relationship between the same variables. However, a moderating effect did not appear to exist between self-performance appraisal, peer support and work performance. The researchers discussed implications of the research within the context of the customer service department of business process outsourcing companies. |
