Llana, Stephanie Shariah C. The objective of the current study is to determine the experiences and motivations of young adults who engage in online gaming. Majority of the researches in online gaming talk about the different kinds of online games, gaming and its effect. Studies have shown that intense gaming is fundamentally problematic but still remains as a debated topic over the years. A total of twelve (12) college students from various universities in Metro manila with the age range of eighteen (18) to twenty-four (24) who play at least twenty (20) hours online per week have participated in this study. After the interviews were conducted, the data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the study show that in terms of experience, there were more positive feelings than negative, and as for motivations, escapist/avoidant tendencies ranked the highest, followed by self-affirmation, then social needs, and lastly pursuit of pleasure/stress relief. Additionally, two (2) out of five (5) of Maslows hierarchy of needs were satisfied such as social and esteem, by their relatively excessive gaming behavior. More so, the results also show that the participants use online gaming as a form of escape from their everyday responsibilities. 2019-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7995 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Internet games Internet games--Psychological aspects
