Odsinada, Charmina P. Pagaspas, Angelyne Milagros H. Santos, Roselee B. This paper examines the determinants of student achievement as measured by the National Achievement test scores. Ordinary least squares (OLS) and fixed effects model (FEM) were utilized to estimate the impact of and relationship among individual, family and school factors that affect student achievement. This estimated using the same set of 1,576 students belonging to eight science high schools in the National Capital Region for school years 2005-2006 and 2006 to 2007. We find that gender, previous report card grades, class size, number of academic rooms, student-teacher ratio as well as teacher strategy are the significant determinants affecting student achievement hence the government should create programs emphasizing these variables to enhance the quality of education in the Philippines. 2008-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_honors/349 Honors Theses English Animo Repository
