Summary: | This Integrative Action Research focused on the new data analysts’ insufficient technical knowledge and competency in GBSI, a shared services company. The data analysts have limited background and experience and have insufficient understanding of key tasks. Thus, this action research restructured the onboarding program to improve skills of data analysts to ensure that they achieve a satisfactory audit rating. Their improved skills are expected to create organizational impact in terms of avoiding delays, producing quality reports, and establishing a more accurate employee benefits database. To establish a successful onboarding, our action research team was guided by Bauer’s (2010) four levers, namely, self-efficacy, role clarity, social integration, and knowledge of the culture, and her research-based model of onboarding. The restructured onboarding significantly improved the new analysts’ technical competency which led to their high-quality client data submissions. |
