To measure the self-concept of the respondents, the Manual for Tennessee Self-Concept Scale was used. The instrument used for measuring the methods of study was constructed by the investigator. It is coded in the following manner: Method I - I Study Everyday (1)Method II - I Study Every meeting (2)Method III - I Study when there's a test (3)The findings revealed that: 1. The four variables namely, Feelings of Identity, Student's concept on Social Self, Integration of Self, and Over all Self-Concept are the significantly correlated with academic achievement. 2. Non-significant relationship is found between Student's Physics Achievement and Measure of Self-Concept on Self-Criticism, Self-Acceptance, Physical Self, Moral Ethical Self, Behavior of Self and Family Self. 3. Non-significant difference are found between the mean of the grades and the methods of study used. From the study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. Student who are likely to achieve better in Physics achievement are disposed to be more aware of their self-identity. 2. The greater the student's knowledge of themselves, of their social self, and over all self-concept, the better are their performance in Physics. The following are recommended: 1. Since the findings indicate that lack of self-concept bear certain relations with physics achievement, it is suggested that guidance efforts be directed toward identifying individuals who have special needs, problems, or hindrances to learning. 2. A parallel study could be conducted in other schools to provide a comparison of results. 3. A study similar to the present study with added variables, such as to find out further the best factor which can determine physics achievement is also recommended. 1985-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/99 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Self-perception Prediction of scholastic success Academic achievement Mapua Institute of Technology (Philippines) Physics
