Summary: | This study determines the effects of selected relaxation activities on the science anxiety level and achievement of Grade VI pupils in some public and private schools. It employed the quasi-experimental design. There were one hundred sixty (160) respondents who participated in this study eighty (80) from the public schools and another eighty (80) from the private schools. Forty (40) of them belonged to the control group and another forty (40) belonged to the experimental group. They were randomly assigned to the control and experimental groups by the researcher. The researcher who applied the experimental treatment, an integration of selected relaxation activities and techniques that were introduced only to the experimental group handled the experimental group in the public schools. The control groups did not get the treatment. The two groups were compared based on their anxiety scores and achievement scores. Statistical tools used were the t-test and descriptive statistics. Results of the study pointed to the potential of selected relaxation activities in changing the anxiety level of respondents from high to low. However, the Selected Relaxation Activities did not improve the pupils' achievement in Science VI in the public experimental group. When the means of public and private experimental groups were combined, the result registered a higher mean achievement than the means of public and private control groups combined. |
