Summary: | This study was conducted among twenty school administrators from the public and private schools in Metro Manila using the descriptive and correlational type of research. Means and percentages were taken to describe the demographic profile of the respondents. Ranking was applied to the problems encountered and the t-test was computed to determine the significant differences in the responses of the two groups of administrators.
The findings revealed that (a) there were more female administrators than males and (b) public school administrators were more experienced and academically prepared. The study revealed the following that in terms of the administrators' problems related to tasks: (a) planning - revision and preparation of the goals and objectives of special curriculum and selection of approved textbooks ranked high (b) organizing - organizing school-community/home activities with parents and translation of legislative requirements into special education were most encountered (c) controlling - the use of modern technologies for teaching and the evaluation materials were the most difficult tasks for the administrators and (d) directing - the highest ranked problem was on verbal and written communication with the school teachers.
With the existing results, however, there was no significant difference on the problems encountered by administrators. |
