Description
Summary:Characterized to be volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA), Industry 4.0 has paved the way to changes in various processes and skills in order to accommodate the digitalization of different business processes and the business landscape, in general. Thus, professionals, especially those working with Accounting Information Systems (AIS), must meet the demands of the industry in terms of technology-related skills and capabilities. To address the skills gap presented by several pieces of literature, the study created a model curriculum that incorporates the learning objectives of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) International Education Standards (IESs) and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Model Curriculum and what has already been promulgated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information Systems (BSAIS) programs. A double degree BSA-BSAIS program was proposed in the context of DLSU considering the policies, standards, and guidelines mandated by CMOs 27 and 30, Series of 2017. Several aspects were considered by the researchers in the proposed program: program policies and procedures; facilities and equipment; faculty support and management viability; and marketability and demand. Overall, the double-degree BSA-BSAIS program is feasible to be offered at DLSU, considering these factors.
