Summary:Chemical investigation of the dichloromethane extract of the fruit of Muntingia calabura afforded squalene (1), triglyceride (2), a mixture of linoleic acid (3a), palmitic acid (3b) and α-linolenic acid (3c), and a mixture of β- sitosterol (4a) and stigmasterol (4b). The structures of 1-4b were identified by comparison of their NMR data with those reported in the literature.
