Summary:This paper is an exploratory study of the airline industry in the Asia Pacific market, in light of the region’s financial crisis. Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, British Airways and Qantas Airways are profiled. The paper also examines the important phenomenon of global airline alliances, while offering some guidelines to alliance management. Frequent Flyer Programmes are also discussed. The paper ends by highlighting some future areas of development in the industry.
