Summary: | The documentary, as an emerging force for cultural transmission and exchange, together with its translation, requires more importance to be attached on. Animal documentaries, prominently focusing on recording wildlife, are dedicated to raise people’s awareness about animals and appeal for nature protection. Given this, this paper looks upon features of animal documentaries and examine possible strategies that can be adopted in translating this genre. Based on a case study, on documentaries Born in China and African Cats, this paper aims to identify the features of English and Chinese animal documentaries and explore appropriate C-E and E-C translation strategies to overcome the difficulties existing in translating this genre. |
