在一个数字化和多媒体广泛应用的社会中，确保媒体内容对所有人都具有无障 碍性变得至关重要。字幕是一种关键的工具，能帮助观众理解并享受广泛的媒体内容。 这对听障者而言更是如此。无障碍字幕早期在西方国家中兴起，并逐渐在世界各地普 及开来。然而，在包括中国、台湾、新加坡等汉语文化圈内，无障碍字幕的制定和普 及尚不广泛，发展较为滞后。本文将首先比较西方国家和东方国家的指导方针，之后 以新加坡为主要研究对象，探讨现有指导方针的效果和局限性。为了更深入了解听障 者的需求和偏好，本文将通过定量和定性的问卷调查作为研究的数据来源。问卷调查 将以听障者为受访对象，并以纪录片《象牙游戏》和《追逐珊瑚》的两组跨语言字幕 为题，以了解他们对于字幕翻译的偏好。本文将为新加坡媒体部门和业者在制定行业 指南上提供信息和建议，有助于提高新加坡媒体信息的无障碍性和包容性。本文希望 以此让使听障者能够充分地参与生活文化和体验娱乐、促进新加坡成为一个更具包容 性的社会、进而让每个人都能“看见声音”。 In an increasingly digital and multimedia-driven society, it is imperative to ensure that media content is accessible to all, regardless of their auditory abilities. Subtitling for the d/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (SDH) has been around in Western countries for some time and is slowly becoming more widespread in Eastern countries. However, there is still a lack of concrete guidelines in SDH for Eastern countries. This paper will begin by assessing the current guidelines available across the globe, examining the effectiveness and limitations of existing guidelines. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Surveys and user testing with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) individuals will provide valuable insights into their needs and preferences. A questionnaire was designed for data collection, where participants were shown two sets of interlingual subtitles for the documentaries The Ivory Game and Chasing Coral. Participants were invited to share their preferences on various areas of SDH. The findings from this study will have the potential to inform industry guidelines for enhancing accessibility and inclusivity in Singapore’s media sector.
