Description
Summary:In the PCB assembly process, various kinds of defects like missing component, bridging, misalignment, tombstoning, extra component, inverted component, wrong polarity, bent lead, lifted lead, and wrong component are frequently encountered. Inspection for PCB assembly is indispensable if high product quality is to be assured. In recent years, owing to a large number of very small surface mount devices (SMDs) being packed on PCBs, inspection of PCB assembly becomes very difficult for human operators. Hence, automated inspection becomes increasingly important. In this thesis, a multi-camera automated inspection system dedicated to surface mount PCB assembly is proposed.
