Description
Summary:As a result of increasing affluence, changing social values and lifestyle, a marked increase of outbound travel by tertiary students was observed. This dissertation /'Travel Motivators and Travel Experience Preferences of Tertiary Students in Singapore" was undertaken as an exploratory study to uncover and attempt to understand the underlying motivational influences on students' need for travel, and the attributes used in seeking their travel destinations. Demographic influences such as age, gender and family income were also analysed. A total of 275 questionnaires were returned from students of the two local universities and four polytechnics for final analysis. Findings revealed eight major group motivators - Change of Environment, Challenge, Luxury, Cultural, 'Singapore', Ethnic, Leisure and finally Escape/Relaxation. Four major travel destination attribute groupings were identified - Environment, Historical/Cultural, Shopping and Leisure/Recreation.
