Description
Summary:Domestic abuse is one of the most overt forms of gender inequality that has been uncritically accepted by society. My paper focuses on how people managing cases of domestic abuse make sense of this particular social problem as they administer help to the victims who turns to the centre for social support and legal advice. My research shows that existence and perpetuation of domestic abuse is rooted in patriarchal practices, legal initiatives of the state and the social construction of the meanings of domestic abuse. In order to effectively deal with the complex nature of domestic abuse and hence eradicate it, an active cooperation is needed to be fostered between social, political and cultural factors.
