Description
Summary:In 2000, List and co-workers firstly reported that L-proline was an effective asymmetric catalyst for the direct aldol reaction between unmodified acetone an a variety of aldehydes, with yields and enantioselectivities from moderate to good. This discovery has initiated the explosive growth of research activities in organic chemistry. Now asymmetric organo-catalysis in which small chiral organic molecules act as catalytically active species, emerged as powerful synthetic tool and are complementary to transition metal based catalysis and biocatalysis in asymmetric synthesis.
