With the 13 research questions established, the demand for ecotourism was examined and compared with market supply available to investigate if there is existing market equilibrium where demand matches the supply. Market opportunities in the near future were then estimated. A total of 16 hypotheses were developed based on literature reviews carried out previously. To facilitate research, in-depth interviews were conducted with seven of the current suppliers of ecotourism products, as well as short survey on 50 non-providers to find out their intention of providing ecotourism products. 514 Singapore residents were interviewed to further understand the market as a whole in the year 2011 and 2012. Statistics shows that a rising trend for ecotourism can be expected, albeit slow, as a sustainable form of travel in Singapore. The practical findings would benefit the ecotourism industry players as the characteristics, and taste and preferences of eco-tour participants are also statistically analyzed.
