Summary:This report discusses the rationale behind and the development process of Buddy Buddy. The project began with an interest in the feasibility of creating a video game that can cater to both the casual and hardcore gamers. Buddy Buddy’s focus on making social interactions in the game stemmed from the casual games found on social networking sites while the complex relationships formed as a result of those interactions create mechanics that are more akin to those from core games. Discussed in the report are the issues faced while attempts were made to balance up the gameplay for the two types of gamer and design considerations and decisions taken in response to those issues.
