Summary: | Poly d(CG)’s conformations transitions have been the topic for many studies. It has been reported that, at low – salt conditions, most of the conformations are in right - handed B forms, while left – handed Z form dominates the high – salt regime. However, Z DNA can be stabilized under low salt concentration by many factors. Various Z – DNA stabilizers have been found, while many more are being studied.
8 – oxoguanine is a very common product of DNA oxidation process during aerobic respiration. 8 – oxoguanine has shown the potential for genetic mutation, cancer possibility, aging. Although DNA with 8 – oxoguanine appears to possess similar structure to natural DNA at low temperature, it has been reported that the environment is significantly changed by the modified base. Hence, the deeper understanding in the influence of 8 – oxoguanine to DNA secondary’s structure is necessary.
Many modified guanine bases have shown the ability to stabilized Z form DNA under low-salt conditions. Regarding the need of studying 8 – oxoguanine, it is possible that 8 – oxoguanine can be an effective Z DNA stabilizer. |
