Autonomous surface crafts (ASC) are widely used for scientific research in marine
environments. In many situations, these ASCs are equipped with underwater sensors
that aid both autonomous navigation and mapping tasks.
The first Autonomous Surface Craft (ASC) was developed since 1993 by researchers
in MIT Sea Grant College Program. As researcher continuously exploring for new
technology, a low cost Autonomous surface craft (ASC) named SCOUT was produce
by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA during the summer of
2004.SCOUT is a Marine Robotics that is use for experiments at NTU and Gemini 720i
Multi-Beam Sonar is one such sensor that is recently purchased for underwater
sensing. |
