The result of the study is mediated by benefits value of appraisal accuracy and procedural justice which is in turn moderated by the nationality of the employees. In this study, a total of three hypotheses were formed. The main objective of this study is to find out whether employees prefer flexible or traditional benefits and how it is correlated with the various mediating and moderating factors. The group conducted surveys amongst the employees in both Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Polytechnic to determine whether they were both satisfied with the benefits they were receiving. Our findings showthat flexible benefits do increase the benefits satisfaction level more in locals than in expatriates. However, this relationship does not hold true when the mediating factors (i.e. Appraisal Accuracy and Procedural Justice) enter the model. This may suggest to us that foreigners in tertiary institutions may not have their needs adequately met by flexible benefits, as compared to locals. Recommendations to address this issue include having a better choice of benefits as well as being able to have a clear stipulation of the monetary value of the benefits to bring about improvements in the benefits satisfaction levels.
