Description
Summary:Previous studies on exergame technology used in an intergenerational setting have focused mainly on the elderly, their experiences and attitudes. In this study, we instead examine the use of exergame technology in an intergenerational setting from the perspective of youths. In this study, we will be focusing their attitudes towards natural user interfaces, exergames and intergenerational play. Ten youths are introduced to the Microsoft Kinect system and were interviewed about their experiences, views and attitudes in these areas. The results of the study provide some insights into the concerns of these youths in making use of such natural user interface systems, with currently available commercial games, as an exercise tool and in an intergenerational setting. With this knowledge, we hope to understand the areas natural user interface systems need to improve upon in order to encourage its use by youths and help such systems serve a common activity between the young and the old, providing additional avenues for bonding.
