本文所指的中国奖学金得主是指目前正在工作的,曾经接受新加坡政府奖学 金赴新加坡读书的一群中国学生。他们当时所参加的政府奖学金计划,分别是针对 在中国读书的初中毕业生、高二在读生以及大一新生。本文采取访谈的研究方法, 收集、分析和总结奖学金得主的成长故事。意在探讨中国奖学金得主在新加坡的社 会融入状况,借由生活方式,社会参与以及意识形态三个方面, 揭示这些奖学金 得主自踏入这片热土以来所经历的甜酸苦辣,试图剖析整个群体以及每个独特个体 的成长心路历程。这篇论文希望通过实地调查为新加坡社会对年轻一代的来自中国新移民提供社会研究意义。Mainland Chinese scholarship recipients in this paper refers to a group of working adults who previously took on a scholarship from the Singapore government and continued their education in Singapore local schools. The scholarship scheme is targeted at three groups of Chinese students, those who have just completed their secondary school, high school sophomore and university freshmen. This paper aims to offer a glimpse into the subject of social inclusion of Mainland Chinese scholarship recipients in Singapore. By looking at lifestyle, social engagement and ideology, this paper is also an effort to examine each individual’s unique experience and hopes to discover a common pattern of how they make decisions and cope the change of environment. This paper wishes to shed some light on the social significance of the Generation Y batch of Chinese new immigrants.
