The evaluation deals with issues pertaining to the financial needs of students, in the light of the latest fee hike (1 Apr 1991). The main issues covered in this report therefore, relates to the circumstances leading to the university fee hikes, the immediate and long term forms of financial assistance available to needy students. An assessment of the benefits of the study loans presently available is done, based on the criteria of actual costs (of funds) and the accessibility of such loans. In all, it is hoped that students' feedback on the available financial assistance are reflected in this report and that, more could be done to ensure that ~no deserving student is denied an opportunity to pursue a university education due to financial constraints.'
