Summary: | This report presents the findings of Building Information Modelling (BIM) for Tuas Sewer Works through my research and experience. Cases are built upon to form a strong argument to encourage the use of BIM. It is important to look into the usage of BIM modelling to explore the possibility of improving the design, construction and operation quality for the first world city, Singapore. Through the implementation of building information modelling (BIM), Singapore could transform itself to be better in design, construction and operation stage in the Built Environment sector. Site visits for the Tuas Sewer were essential to analyse the 3D model and photographs were taken. These were included in the report as well to form a strong basis of argument and to also give a first-hand experience to the reader. Many developed countries such as India, United State of America, and Singapore have been using BIM for construction projects. The success rate in the usage of BIM depends greatly on the experience and knowledge of the participants. A BIM execution plan is necessary throughout the various stage of the construction to prevent counterproductive outcome. |
