儒家祭祖与基督教的张力 :以砂拉越诗巫的基督教华人为个案探讨 = Tensions between Confucianism ancestor worship and Christianity : a case study of Chinese Christians in Sibu, Sarawak

基督教并不是中国历史上第一个外来宗教,但是其所引发的耶儒之争是前所未有的深 入与广泛。其中,祭祖涉及了中国人的伦理观与宗教观,因此成为耶儒之争中最具张 力的议题之一。在耶儒两方不断集中探讨二者的差异时,在中国边陲的福州省却已经 开始经历了基督教本土化的转变,开始形成了基督教社区。清末之际,为了生存,许 多福州人开始下南洋,其中多数定居于马来西亚砂拉越州诗巫省。这群福州移民为诗 巫带来的不仅仅是劳动力,还复制了过去在福州的族群记忆,将基督教社区的生活模 式引入诗巫。诗巫华人基督徒逐渐形成了特殊的华人、籍贯与基督教的三重身份认同。 本文第二章将整理耶儒两方在祭祖上,于伦理与宗教两个层面的不同论述。...

While Confucianism and Christian were emphasizing on their differences, on the other hand, the Methodist Episcopal Church had started their localization in Fujian province. During the end of Qing Dynasty, a group of Chinese Christian started to migrant to Sarawak. These migrants were crucial to the development of Sibu, Sarawak. They duplicated Christian Community from Fujian Province and provided labours. Eventually, these migrants managed to build up their special cultural identity, which integrated ethnic identity, hometown identity and religion identity. The second chapter will be focusing on the arguments between Chinese and Christians about ancestor worship. In chapter three and four, the paper will focus on Sibu, probes into the establishment of Chinese Christian community in Sibu. Moreover, these chapters will study how Chinese Christian involve in ancestor worship and invent replaceable rituals to fulfil the values of traditional ancestor worship and doctrines of Christianity.
