Summary: | With the exponential growth of the data in the world today, data volume is expected to grow exponentially by around 40 per cent per year and 50 times by Year 2020, as of the Year 2015. The expansion of all three dimensions of big data has made big data management a challenge, as current tools are still ineffective when it comes to helping humans visualize a mass of information ranging from reports, trends and statistics.
To help mitigate this challenge of managing big data, my team of 3 has come up with a solution using Virtual Reality (VR) 3D data browser based on Unity3d game development engine, together with Microsoft Azure technology (providing SQL Database), for a new world of data visualization. The technology involved will be HTC Vive, Unity3D and Microsoft Azure cloud technology. Each team member will be working on different parts of this 3D Data Visualizer, ranging from the design and animation of 3D data to the backend programming required for connecting data from Azure Cloud to Unity3d. This project has been submitted to the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2017 Competition.
In this report, it will be focusing on the coding for connecting data from Azure Cloud to Unity3d, creating of graphs using C# scripts, and the design and animation of 3D data and objects in Virtual Reality as well. |
