Values also affect relationships among people working in an organization. The compatibility of what we perceive in our values and those inherent in the culture of the organization forms the basis of a social or psychological contract with the organization (Posner, 1992). The ramifications for this relationship are immense for those managing and also those being managed in organizations. Specifically, the purpose of this study is to survey Singaporean executives and managers working in local indigenous organizations toward understanding the shared values between the individual and the organization which are a major source of both personal and organizational effectiveness. In particular, the values placed by these executives and managers on various organizational goals, organizational stakeholders and personal traits are examined. Descriptive and inferential statistics are employed in the survey of 80 local managers and executives.
