Summary: | According to a study by The United Nations, by the year 2050, half of Singapore’s population will be required to support the other half. This translates to a ratio of one working professional supporting one elderly individual. Such a situation is not ideal as the elderly will be left unattended if the caretaker is caught up at work or has an emergency. The current solution to such situations would be turning to unhealthy meal options such as instant foods or fast food delivery options. This is especially the case among lower-income families as they rely on the sole-breadwinner to provide meals and are generally not be able to afford maids or nursing homes for their elderly family members. Such food options are generally prepared with convenience and speed in design and usually lack the daily recommended dietary values that the elderly need in their daily intake. This inability to afford a healthy lifestyle results in a large segment of the unhealthy elderly population belonging to the lower-income bracket of society. Therefore, this FYP project aims to solve these issues by creating a convenient one-stop service platform that is accessible to all, regardless of income levels that can help families plan their meals according to their varying needs and preferences while also providing all working individuals with easy access to the delivery of healthy and elderly-friendly meal options in cases of emergencies. |
