Description
Summary:Microfluidic impedance flow cytometry is capable of label-free, high-throughput analysis of cells. This project seeks to create a new microfluidic device capable of impedance measurements of cells using liquid metal electrodes. Conventional microfabricated electrodes are expensive and are complex to manufacture. The use of liquid metals is to reduce fabrication steps and complexity while reducing cost. Investigation is done to determine suitable material and loading stratergies for liquid metal electrodes. A new design for microfluidic imedance flow cytometers using closely aligned parallel facing electodes made of liquid metal is fabricated. Aspects such as flow cytometry performance and cost is evaluted.
