sg-smu-ink.lkcsb_research-44532019-01-28T01:04:07Z An empirical examination of the mechanisms mediating between high performance work systems and the performance of Japanese organizations TAKEUCHI, Riki LEPAK, David P. WANG, Heli TAKEUCHI, Kazuo The resource-based view of the firm and social exchange perspectives are invoked to hypothesize linkages among high-performance work systems, collective human capital, the degree of social exchange in an establishment, and establishment performance. The authors argue that high-performance work systems generate a high level of collective human capital and encourage a high degree of social exchange within an organization, and that these are positively related to the organization's overall performance. On the basis of a sample of Japanese establishments, the results provide support for the existence of these mediating mechanisms through which high-performance work systems affect overall establishment performance. 2007-07-01T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/lkcsb_research/3454 info:doi/10.1037/0021-9010.92.4.1069 https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/context/lkcsb_research/article/4453/viewcontent/Emp_Exam_High_Perf_Work_Sys_Japanese_afv.pdf http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business eng Institutional Knowledge at Singapore Management University human capital mediators relative establishment performance social exchange theory strategic HRM Asian Studies Human Resources Management Strategic Management Policy |
