The validity of assessment centres for the prediction of supervisory performance ratings: A meta-analysis

The current meta-analysis of the selection validity of assessment centres aims to update an earlier meta-analysis of assessment centre validity. To this end, we retrieved 26 studies and 27 validity coefficients (N=5850) relating the Overall Assessment Rating (OAR) to supervisory performance ratings....

The current meta-analysis of the selection validity of assessment centres aims to update an earlier meta-analysis of assessment centre validity. To this end, we retrieved 26 studies and 27 validity coefficients (N=5850) relating the Overall Assessment Rating (OAR) to supervisory performance ratings. The current study obtained a corrected correlation of .28 between the OAR and supervisory job performance ratings (95% confidence interval .24 < =rho < =.32). It is further suggested that this validity estimate is likely to be conservative given that assessment centre validities tend to be affected by indirect range restriction. 2007-12-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/lkcsb_research/5776 info:doi/10.1111/j.1468-2389.2007.00399.x https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/context/lkcsb_research/article/6775/viewcontent/Validity_AC_predict_supervisory_perf_sv.pdf http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business eng Institutional Knowledge at Singapore Management University Human Resources Management Industrial and Organizational Psychology Organizational Behavior and Theory
