Summary: | To expand its production, Unit Bisnis Pertambangan Emas (UPBE) Pongkor (PT. XYZ) had planned to develop a mine at Ciguha area at level 400/450. The development of Mining Production at this level will be started by the construction of inclined shaft build down to level 400/450.

During the development of inclined shaft, groundwater inflow will become the most problem issue. When the development is continued beneath, it is afraid that the groundwater's appearance will be larger that will disturb the development activities. Then, a hydrogeology investigation is needed to determine hydrogeology condition surrounding inclined shaft location, so the recommendation of the best-to-handle the groundwater inflow and drainage system can be given. Field investigations are carried out to asses the variability of a borehole (110 meter length) as it intersects various hydrogeological units.

Based on the analysis of hydrogeological and geological condition, the groundwater appearance is controlled by fractured aquifer and considered to be the main passage for groundwater flow. The excavation method that is recommended is shaft sinking conventional by 3 meter length of excavation section in development the inclined shaft, so that the maximum rate of groundwater inflow to the tunnel is 4.11 m3/jam. And the drainage system will require of minimum 2 pump is plugged; with 2 L/sec pumping capacity, with one-hour off. |
