Description
Summary:Water is a common problem in mining activities, both in open pit and underground mines. If not handled properly, the incoming water may disrupt mining activities. Water problems occur in almost all mines, including the underground gold mine of PT Aneka Tambang, Tbk. UBPE Pongkor. The largest water problem in PT Antam UBPE Pongkor is in the Ciurug mine. Incoming water source at Ciurug mine comes from fractures in 3 places, namely crosscut XC 445-A with water discharge of 3.61 m3/min, crosscut XC 445-B with water discharge of 10.63 m3/minute, and front of the Central rampdown mine with water discharge of 1.83 m3/min.

The mine dewatering system has been implemented to overcome the large water discharge that goes into the Ciurug mine by installing a number of pumps. From the applied dewatering system, it found that the flow problems are the imbalance between the inlet flow discharge and the existing pumping capacity at the B rampdown South Ciurug mine, mine sump 452, mine sump 2, mine sump XC 457 Central rampdown, and Utama mine sump.

Based on the assessment of the dewatering system, it is recommended to decrease the total head system for pumps in 435-A mine sump, 445-B mine sump, XC 457 mine sump Central rampdown. The next recommendation is to increase the number of pumps at 452 mine sump and Utama mine sump. The total installed pump capacity of the recommendation is 19.01 m3/min (A rampdown is 3.94 m3/min, B rampdown is 11.24 m3/min and the Central rampdown is 3.83 m3/min).
