Description
Summary:The Train 3 sub-project of Yamal LNG, developed 2 fabrication yards at Batam Island, Kepulauan Riau Province, within a period of at least 17 months (Phase 1 until Phase 5). For the fabrication process, PT. XYZ was awarded as the subcontractor to complete three different job scopes. These consist of architectural works, heating, ventilation, air conditioning system fabrication and commissioning the work, and piping insulation installation for the Yamal LNG Train 3 project. Due to complicated of process of each awarded project and un-controlled of resources manpower affected to 41% cost overruns. Furthermore, PT XYZ has become approved vendor list for main fabricator oil and gas at Batam Island. There are opportunities to obtain next E&I module project with integrated package of architectural works, heating, ventilation, air conditioning system fabrication and commissioning the work, and piping insulation installation. The purpose this thesis to determine root cause of cost overruns, analysis and create new project management system incoherence with integrated management system based on ISO standard. Based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Version 6, five processes are involved in managing projects— initiation, planning, monitoring, execution, and closing. As nature defines it, projects should have a beginning and an ending referred to as the "project life cycle/ PMBOK contains ten knowledge areas, and each knowledge area has inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs (ITTOs) that link together. A sharp analysis is needed to connect root cause and integrated solutions based on each affected area using the PMBOK Version 6 Framework.
