Description
Summary:The issue of food waste management is still a difficult challenge for the City of Bandung, because of the nature of food waste that decomposes quickly and is considered to have no economic value. This accumulated amount of waste causes the cost of waste management to continue to increase due to reduced landfill capacity. The process of decomposition of food waste also produces methane gas which has an effect on global warming, and causes disease in the vicinity of landfills. Hotels and restaurants, which should have a clear structure in waste management, still produce a significant amount of unprocessed food waste. This research is aimed at presenting a food waste container design that can increase the efficiency of the food waste management system and reduce the negative impact of food waste. Through an integrated system with the processing of food waste using the Black Soldier Fly, the resulting food waste can provide benefits for all parties by turning it into a product of economic value.
