INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/85484 Over the past two decades, the entertainment industri has transitioned significantly from analog to digital formats, driven by technological advancements and the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the gaming sector where digital formats now dominate. Despite the growth of mobile gaming, PC and console gaming remain limited by high hardware costs, especially the price of GPUs and other high-performance hardware components. To address these limitations, this project implemented a cloud gaming service to optimize and automate VM provisioning using Proxmox, Packer, and Terraform. Several types of hardware emulation were also tested to determine the most suitable for gaming in a VM. Testing of this system revealed that VirtIO provided the most efficient NIC, SCSI excelled in disk performance, and Writeback disk caching offered the best balance between performance and data integrity. Local gaming streaming tests showed good performance results, while internet streaming, although still playable, exhibited increased latency and frame drops. This research demonstrates the potential of cloud gaming to provide high-quality gaming experiences with minimal hardware investment, enhancing accessibility and user engagement in digital entertainment. text
