Summary:Through this study the writer intends to lmow whether the Indonesian subtitling conveys the same message as the one in the source language. The writer uses qualitative descriptive research. Since she tries to describe data in a qualitative manner that is collect, analyze and interpret them. By using the utterances in the fourth and fifth scene of 'Ladder 49' the writer would like to find out whether the Indonesian subtitling of 'Ladder 49' conveys the same message as the source language or not. The writer is using five procedures from seven of translation that is: literal translation, modulation, equivalent, adaptation and transposition and the result is that the writer finds out there are many misleading mistake in the subtitle. So it doesn't convey the same message from the source language. As a conclusion for this thesis that a good translation must reproduce the information given in the source text. the language must b e adapted to its readers and it should be appropriate for the people who read or listen to it.
