Seo, You Jung Despite a number of transnational factors prompting the rise of Korean- Filipino relations (such as the increase of Korean tourist and expats in the country, the popularity of the Korean wave among Filipino audiences and most notably, the increase of Korean-Filipino marriages), there is still a lack of official statistics and comprehensive studies concerning Korean-Filipino families and individuals residing in the Philippines (Son 52-54, 88).
