Summary: | This paper investigated the organizational culture profile and the selection, optimization, compensation (SOC) behavioral profile of a petroleum organization in the Philippines. Specifically, the study identified the dominant type of culture prevailing in the organization and described the employee's behavioral tendencies associated with the life management strategies of selection, optimization, and compensation. Then, the study explored whether a relationship existed between the dominant type of culture and the SOC behaviors. Furthermore, the paper described how the SOC processes were demonstrated in the organizational culture.
A descriptive research design utilizing a multi-method approach was employed. Two hundred (200) respondents were tested using two survey instruments while a representative sample of twenty respondents participated in the interview portion of the study. Results showed that the organization has a market type of culture and all fifteen businesses and functions received a moderate SOC rating. There was no correlation established between the dominant type of culture and the SOC behaviors. Finally, SOC behaviors were drawn out from the respondents and these behaviors were situated within the context of the six dimensions of culture. |
