Description
Summary:The purpose of this case study is to investigate on the current practices of professional development activities of progressive schools in the Philippines. The study was conducted in five progressive schools around Metro Manila and schools were chosen based on the results of a survey that confirms that they implemented progressive practices in the classroom. Interviews with administrators were conducted to gather data on how their professional development activities were planned and sustained. A focused-group discussion was also conducted among five teachers in each school. Data was analyzed using cross-case analysis and results show that the current practices in professional development of these progressive schools are aligned with effective strategies for conducting professional development according to the National Staff Development Council in the United States.
