Summary: | Blended learning integrates multiple methods of discussing the lessons to students with diverse needs. This action research utilizing quantitative and qualitative data aimed to examine the impact of the Blended Learning- Station Rotation (BL-SR) model in learning trigonometric functions of the forty-three (43) Grade 11 STEM students of a sectarian school in Quezon City. The initial analysis showed that students had underdeveloped prerequisite skills for higher Mathematics due to misconception, lack of mastery and integration in Junior High School Mathematics. However, the computed mean percentage of correct answer obtained by the students in the three learning stations small group discussion with the teacher, online learning and independent/collaborative activities, is above the required sixty percent passing rate. Furthermore, the computed average normalized gain of the students indicates an improvement in their retention. The favorable attitude of the students towards the pedagogy contributed to those results. The experts agreed that the detailed learning activities prepared and used by the researcher in the study incorporated the essential elements in the three learning stations signifying that it can be used as instructional materials in the blended learning approach of teaching trigonometric functions. Hence, BL-SR model helps to develop high cognition, promote self-direction, engagement in learning and collaboration among the students. |
