Description
Summary:Toxic workplace is a costly environment for business, yet individuals and organizations cannot stop the insidious spread of toxicity, which sometimes are caused by them uknowingly. An organizational defense mechanism must be set-up to moderate its negative effects to prevent its vital employees from leaving and subsequently employed by the competitor. One of the many approaches is the use of the emotional intelligence of employees as a tool for coping with toxic co-workers. This paper examines the negative effects of toxic workplace that may lead to the decision of the employee to quit. A conceptual framework is proposed for future research on the moderating effect of emotional intelligence between job dissatisfaction and employee resignation.
