Summary: | This report, titled “RobotX Challenge 2022: Development of Propulsion Control System for Surface Vehicle”, will detail the experience, feedbacks, works and designs of the author throughout his Final Year Project Duration. This project aims to help develop the propulsion system of the Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) used by Nanyang Technological University in preparation for its participation in the Maritime RobotX Challenge. The RobotX challenge is a bi-centennial competition participated by schools worldwide as they build a USV to perform various tasks as outlined by the organizer.
The author had to reconstruct the electrical and propulsion to be able to participate in the Maritime RobotX Challenge. After participating in the challenge, the author is able to utilize the knowledge gained from the challenge as well as the feedback of the previous and current teams to help to move forward with the improvement of the USV’s propulsion system.
At the end of this project, the author selects the most suitable motor which will be used as the main motors of the USV. He will also propose for additional motors to be placed at the sides of the USV to aid in the maneuverability of the USV. Lastly, the author will redesign a new electrical system for the USV to utilize. |
